"'Feildnotes From The Gowanus' was a visual research workshop led by The Canary Project and commissioned by the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center (SJDC) in conjunction with the exhibition U-n-f-o-l-d: A Cultural Response to Climate Change.
In mid-October, we canoed the length of the canal. Having spent the previous day getting a crash course on the site from climate scientists to representatives from the EPA to community activists, planners and designers. Following the expedition, artists had 2 weeks to produce work in response."

The Piece "On the Banks of the Gowanus" was my response to this experience.
Materials where gathered along the edges of the canal to construct a fishing pole.
The pole was then used in a 13 minute looping video of myself fishing at dawn. Nothing was caught.
